Four days after Dusshera, Sharad Purnima is celebrated. Ashvin month’s Purnima is known as Sharad Purnima. In some places, it is also called Kojgiri Purnima. This year it will be celebrated on October 19. For getting the blessings of Maa Laksmi and making her happy, some days are really important. In these days, Sharad Purnima is also included. Worshipping Goddess Laksmi on this day is considered very auspicious. According to Shastras, on this day, Goddess Laksmi appeared during Samudra Manthana. Also, one should avoid doing things that will make the Goddess unhappy and will cause financial problems. On this day, there are some restrictions on what you can and cannot do. Let’s see doing what things should be avoided on Sharad Purnima.



  • On Sharad Purnima, do not eat meat or drink alcohol, not even mistakenly, or else you will end up in financial trouble.

  • On Sharad Purnima, do not give donations after sunset. Doing this after sunset will bring poverty. Always do donations before sunset.

  • Follow brahmacharya on this day to avoid any kind of trouble in your married life.

  • On this day, one should feed married women and gift them something. Doing this brings prosperity and happiness to your home.

  • While doing Laksmi Pujan on this day, do not use colors like black, dark blue, or brown.

  • Do not face south or west while doing the Pujan. The North and the East directions are auspicious, especially the North direction, which is the direction of money. That’s why it is considered prosperous to do the Pujan of Laksmi, Ganesha, and Kuber in this direction.

  • On this day, money transactions like giving money to someone should be avoided. It is believed that the money given on this day never returns, and doing this angers Maa Laksmi, and bitterness also comes to your relationship.

  • Avoid saying any harsh or wrong words on this day and try to maintain a happy and calm atmosphere at home.
